FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • WEATHER: Each boat is unique. The S.S. Dragonfly and S.S. Borealis which tour out of Houghton/Hancock are both prepared with means of escaping shifting weather. Miss Fanny, touring out of Copper Harbor does not have coverage from weather shifts. Cancellations due to weather are decided by the Captain. 
     

  • THE CAPTAIN: With over 20-years of experience, on a wide variety of ships Dominic Snell can answer any questions about the surrounding area while giving guests the best views. Coast Guard Certified Master of 100 Tons.

  • S.S Borealis: Has a Marine head (lavatory) bathroom & Galley sink, tables, ample indoor and out door seating, microwave, grill and grilling equipment, propane, complimentary tinfoil, plastic cutlery and paper plates, paper towels ECT.  Although there is a small fridge you may want to bring your own cooler to ensure adequate space, passengers are responsible to clean up after themselves.

  • PARKING: Available in front of 100 Navy Street or Porvoo Park for Hancock dock. There is no dock available on the Houghton side, please head to Hancock. Park at the Lake Fanny Hooe resort for Copper Harbor tours. The Tour starts about 500 feet from the Bar & Grill, "The Lake Effect".

  • RESTROOMS: Public restrooms are available at Porvoo Park near the Hancock dock. Lake Fanny Hooe has public restrooms available at the camp ground.
     

  • PETS: Well behaved pets are welcome, but must stay off of seats and other passengers. There's no additional fee for bringing a pet. 
     

  • DOCKS: The Hancock dock is located at 100 Navy Street, next to the Ramada Inn & M&M Powersports. The Copper Harbor dock is located behind 9286 Manganese Rd in Copper Harbor. or clicking on the directions button available on our map below. 
     

  • BOOKING: The S.S. Dragonfly is available to book 5 hours prior to tour. The S.S. Borealis is available for online booking up to 5 hours prior to tour start. Miss Fanny is available for booking 1-hour in advance, prior to tour start, call to booking is required after these cutoff times.
     

  • CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations are at the sole discretion of the Captain. Full refunds are available for any cancellations due to weather, scheduling, emergency. The Captain will contact you prior to the cruise to provide updates on the status of the ride. 

GENERAL CANCELLATION POLICY

​Cancellations for ANY reason submitted in writing via email within 72-hours (3 days) prior to ride are available for a full refund. Cancellations made after 72-hours prior to tour will not receive a refund, as seating is very limited and filling empty seats is highly unlikely. Individuals who no-show or are late for departure are not eligible for refunds.
